This course introduces the student to the concepts and skills necessary to effectively protect their lives.  Education includes use of force laws, tactical consciousness, and preventative planning. The student also learns the application of professional methods for personal protection, protective mindset, how to use the environment to their advantage, and the mental and physical mechanics of combat. Hand to handcombat techniques are introduced and trained. Students develop a greater understanding of what it takes to effectively defend their life and gain confidence in their capability to survive.

Handguns have become the default personal defense platform for concealed and everyday carry. This course introduces lawful protective actions, employment of reasonable and proportionate use of force, the basic concepts of handgun retention, and protective empty-hand combat techniques while carrying a handgun. Students will learn to employ their handgun as a less than lethal tool and how to use it effectively from compromised physical positions. They will also receive instruction in proven methods for training the mind to adapt and focus during high-stress situations. When escape is not an option, the definitive close-quarters and weapon retention techniques taught in this phase are critical to gaining the upper hand and could make the difference between life and death.

Students will learn to employ their carbine as a less than lethal tool and how to use it effectively from compromised physical positions. They will also receive instruction in proven methods for training the mind to adapt and focus during high-stress situations. The critical skills of close-quarters counterattack and weapon retention techniques are the core of this course of instruction and are directly applicable in circumstances where avoidance is not optional.
